FOREST WITH LAKE

Even though I could’ve done this forest and lake design with 2 to 3 other group members, I ended up doing it by myself. The goal I had to achieve when creating this unreal engine level was to make an original game. It had to be completed using all the basics I learned throughout the 16-week school semester. Some skills I learned in unreal engine were how to link nodes in blueprint mode, how to move the camera around the level environment/scene, and how to use selection or landscape mode.

TALL STAIRCASE

For this concept, I had to design and develop a game with a specific player goal or mood in mind. More like a prototype than a fully built game I had to ascertain different parts of the game to create an intended mood. The prototype will include a test to uncover more information about the player and provide examples of how the design works or doesn’t work properly. Since I was already familiar with Unreal Engine creating this project was less challenging and confusing. It helped that I knew all the basics of the unreal program from my first class in game design and development.

SUPERMOON 64

My final task was to create a Unity based game that seemed like you were playing it on the Super Nintendo 64 Entertainment console (you need a N64 controller to play this game). In this game you can choose two different paths. In one path you control the protagonist, Marco Muramasa in story mode. The second path has you fighting the enemies, who are called the Unbread in arcade mode. While we were putting this game together my job was to create various landscapes and environments. There are different areas of quality that my professor was looking for with this project. 35% went towards process, 20% technical mastery, 20% aesthetics, 15% design/feel, and 10% branding/marketing considerations. Although, Unity is somewhat like Unreal Engine I still thought that Unity was more difficult to use since the menus and Hub were harder to control. You also need to have some knowledge about coding because sometimes you may have to write C script in the Visual Studio Code app.
